MBT vs RYN shoes

I'm hearing more and more about RYN shoes now and I'm wondering if RYN shoes are actually better than MBT shoes. It seems that the quality of MBT footwear has been getting worse in recent years. Are there people out there that have stopped buying MBT's and started buying RYN's instead? 854

We thank you for the invitation to your very interesting and educational forum. We understand fully that this is a consumer driven discussion board and that the consumer is the one who drives research and development, product innovation and quality control. That being said the following are five pillars of excellence that we feel embody RYN's product leadership, achieved as a result of listening to the voice of the consumer: 1. The RYN AIR TUNNEL and seven layer structure promotes energy return & stability... in addition to strengthening, toning and aligning. 2. The RYN AIR TUNNEL lightens the footwear weight as well as enhances its durability, cushioning and footstrike/stability management effectiveness; keeps heel slippage to a minimum. 3. The RYN AIR TUNNEL can get wet and can withstand all sorts of exposure and usage. 4. The encapsulated RYN AIR TUNNEL technology offers maximum strengthening and toning for those consumers seeking to get the most workout out of their footwear purchase -- executed on a stable, highly technical, supportive and non-eroding seven layer sandwich midsole/outsole platform. 5. RYN Footwear has outstanding quality as each shoe is hand made and goes through a vigorous quality control procedure in footwear's global development hub in Pusan, Korea. As a result RYN Footwear has great durability and longevity and should not require resoling. 856

I never considered buying these types of shoes just didn't like the way they looked at all regardless if they are good for you. I saw RYN online and they looked really cool. I got them and they are great, really comfortable with good support. Comments all the time "those are really cool M.B.T.S where did you get them?" 898

The RYN sound good from what I read, but it would be great to try a pair on in a shoe store. I live in Canada and so far the only way we can try them is order them from the US or the UK. Does anyone know any shoe or sport stores in the Toronto area that have RYN or plan on getting RYN shoes? 962

I'm a bit concerned about the spamming of all forums by RYN employees. No way to go about marketing your "quality" product. Plus one employee even threatened a forum poster when they questioned him/her: http://hateisastrongword.wordpress.com/2008/02/07/i-hate-mbt-shoes/ Scroll to the bottom. Not good. 1077

I just started wearing MBT's and RYN shoes, the major difference is the weight of the shoes. MBT's are extremely heavy and clunky, RYN's are lightweight and feels better. I have not worn my RYN for a extended period yet but will in a day. If I don't like it, it goes back to the online store. 1080

Ryn is FDA certified as a medical device. Here a film from Eneslow in New York City: http://www.thebalancingact.com/BA_video_player_embed_2009.swf?v=XZJL27ATY01254 1109

Got one pair of MBTs and onepair of Ryn. Like both but prefer Ryn Styling. There is a company that will start selling similar shoes internationally: www.Enquistshoes.com. They have men's women's and kids shoes. Caveat: men's shoes don't come in larger sizes yet, but from a company connection I heard that will come soon (as will a much needed English translation of their Hungarian website). Their prices will be quite competitive and I think their styles are attractive No, I don't work for them.....just learned about this through a Hungarian/Dutch trainer at my health club. 1117

As a retailer in Austin that has carried both MBT shoes and now RYN shoes as well, I felt it important to cut through the noise and write a review comparing and contrasting the 2 brands. For the record, I like both brands equally, but for different reasons: http://www.totalrelieffootwear.com/ryn-vs-mbt-comparison 1156

RYN shoes are manufactured in South Korea, where some of the best shoes in the world are made. Generally speaking, the Koreans have spotless plants with state of the art shoe making equipment. Their labor force is highly skilled and well-paid. Korea also sources the best shoe making materials. When you put it all together, Korean-made shoes are generally very high quality, and have a reputation of lasting for years. Z-CoiL shoes, for example, are also manufactured in South Korea. The running joke among Z-CoiL wearers is the shoes just don't fall apart. MBT's were originally manufactured in South Korea, but they moved production to China. As soon as that happened, the quality of the product diminished. It's still a good shoe, but it used to be better. 1299

RYN is cool here in dubai. I can see they also sponsor their Korean team for the winter olympics. They are approved by FDA as a functional footwear and is very helpful for reducing weight when use during walking exercise. 1322

I just got some Skechers Shape ups that I see everywhere at the mall. I think they are really good for exercising. Until Skechers I never saw a shoe like this before. I have never seen MBT or RYN and don't know much about them: are these knockoffs of the Shape ups? 1346

MBT originated the category of rocker-sole, fitness shoes when they arrived in the US around 2003. MBT shoes incorporate a memory foam sensor which induces instability. Skechers Shape-Ups are a low-cost imitation of the MBT concept, and is a far lesser quality product. RYN shoes were developed around the same time as MBTs, and have gained enormous popularity in Asia and Europe. They have just arrived in the US. Unlike the MBT & Skechers shoes, RYN shoes have excellent stability, providing a great workout without ankles rolling in or rolling out. 1350
