Ankle Fusion and running/skiing

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone with ankle fusion had used MBTs to get back into any form of running? I have one fused ankle and just bought a pair. I will try some light running on a treadmill to see how it goes.

I'm also interested in anyone's skiing experiences after an ankle fusion - particularly with getting ski boots modified etc.

Thanks

Eric

Anyone had any problems?

I wonder, has anybody experienced any problems with their MBTs? I bought a pair 2 1/2 years ago and started using them on a daily basis. In fact I was so enthusiastic I started briskly walking part of the way to work every day (appx 2 miles). However, it wasn't long before I started experiencing pain in between the 3rd and 4th metatarsal bones while in the 'toeing off position' (ie. just as my toes leave the floor in a normal stepping movement). I decided to 'walk through' the pain as I was determined to make the most of my new shoes, but the pain was really bad and I realise now I should've seen a doctor sooner. It was a sharp pain, but also at times was like an electrical pain, like the feeling you get when you bang your funny bone, plus numbness around the area. I saw my GP and then a foot specialist, and it was thought to be a morton's neuroma, but I had it operated on and it appears to have been a build of scar tissue around the tendons/ligaments caused either by a direct in... read more

___80 for new soles___,.... think of it twice

Hi All,

Got 2 pairs of MBTs.

After 8-9 months of average use, I had to replace the soles of first pair:

80 euros (EIGHTY EUROS)!!!

What a joke/shock!

If you are lurking around these shoes:

+ 240 euros shoe (which I was happy to pay)
+ 80 euros in less than a year
_______
= 320 euros in less than a year.

I really feel abused, and I am glad to see that other brands are picking up the concept. You can be good and expensive, but you just can't hope for a future by abusing your customers. If MBT does not stop that little game, they will end up chewing their own soles for breakfast.

This is the word of a businessman.

Think of it twice

I have been suffering with foot pain (metatarsal and foot fatigue) for quite a while. My podiatrist has recommended MBT shoes. Does
anyone know if these shoes will help my aching feet or are they just
meant to help with back and leg problems?

MBT shoes made in China or Vietnam?

I just bought 2 pair of MBT shoes for me and my husband in a Footwear etc store. I
found that one pair from China and one pair from Vietnam. I went back to the store
and fond there are not any MBT shoes shown on the store are from Korea. According
to an interview of Fox Business New , Klaus Heidegger explained that the reason the
price of shoes is so high is because they are made in Korea. However, I went to one of
the biggest and official distribution, only got shoes from China and Vietnam. It made
me wonder weather I got the fake MBT or I got a poor quality ones and I overpaid
them? I did not choose buy MBT from the amazon in a cheaper prices because I have
the quality concern, therefore I went to the store which I think I can trust. But now it
really confused me. Can someone assure me that the shoes I bought are fine?

an inner ear condition which means on occasion I suffer with terrible
feelings of vertigo - room spinning, disorientation - I have read these
shoes are not suitable for people with these sypmtoms- can anyone out
there advise if they have felt dizzy or experienced any vertigo type
symptoms when wearing these trainers. Dont want to buy a pair only to
find they induce my symptoms. Thanks Sioux

MBT vs RYN shoes

I'm hearing more and more about RYN shoes now and I'm wondering if RYN shoes are actually better than MBT shoes. It seems that the quality of MBT footwear has been getting worse in recent years. Are there people out there that have stopped buying MBT's and started buying RYN's instead?

Correct size for MBT boots and shoes?

I'm hoping someone can assist.
I currently have the Kisumu sandals, size 39 (US 9), which fit well. I now want to purchase online (no stockist in my vicinity) a pair of walking boots and trainers. However, I find the sizing system confusing. On the basis of the MBT women's foot sizing chart that I downloaded it appears I should go with a size 41 (US9.5-10). Maybe even size 41 2/3, if I want to leave plenty of room for socks.

Does anyone here who normally takes a size 39 sandal also have the shambla walking boots or black sports unisex trainers? What size did you buy? Do they fit well?

Any tips greatly appreciated. (-:

MBT Shoes - Masai Barefoot Technology

I saw a member of my surgeons team yesterday after having my latest x-ray on my recently fused ankle. He mentioned that having a rocker fitted to my shoes might help allow my walking to be more smoother. He also told me about MBT Shoes (Masai Barefoot Technology) that may do the trick too, having the rocker idea built into fashionable shoes. They are usually used for muscle toning. They are not cheap at about 129 pounds but if they make a difference then it could be money well spent. Found a shop yesterday but they were moving location!

Hope to try some out soon and will report back here now I get on.

shoes with steel reinforcement

When purchasing my first pair of MBT Rocker Bottom Shoes I was
referred to a "Shoes That Fit" store by a Podiatrist.
When going there, the cost to me appeared great. I asked why, when I could purchase Rocker Bottom Shoes elsewhere for far less. The answer was the ones that would be best for me should have rigid soles, reinforced with steel. The cheaper shoes are flexible. I paid on sale including taxes $174.00. Never had paid such for any shoes.
However, they did the trick, by relieving my months of intense ongoing pain in all ways. The salesman knew exactly which shoe I should have after hearing my disabilities. He got the correct shoe on the first try after measuring. I usually wear a 7 or 7 1/2. (I feel a trained salesman is needed to choose the correct shoe. It made the world of difference with me.) The shoes I purchased are a size 8 1/2. Different countries, different measuring scales. Hope this helps those that still suffer pain after purchasing their Rocker Bottom Shoes. ... read more

100% pain free wearing MBT Shoes

Female: age near 86. extreme pain for about 6 months. Thought Arthritis. Not so. After Xrays, showed a great amount of cartlidge gone from my foot bones. Also Arches had fallen flat. Referred to a Podiatrist who suggested Rocker Bottom shoes. The minute I put them on 100% pain relief. I keep them on all day, with total pain relief. Learning to walk in them, first in the house for a week, as suggested. Now I can manage anywhere. The minute I take them off the pain returns. As an ageing elder, can expect feet to be just plain worn out! I wear MBT Sport 2 model. Always took my shoes off in the house, which was not a good idea I realize now.
The salesman inserted stretchable shoelaces,(only have to be laced up once!) and also suggested a knee high shoe horn. I no longer have to bend over, which is a plus also. I am so grateful for the pain relief, and wish the same for others.

Hi,

I was just curious if anyone here has plantar fasciitis
and if MBT shoes helped them with the condition. I have tried the inserts with gel and walkfit inserts from TV and
still am plagued with the pain. Do you have a particular
MBT shoes model that you'd recommend for this?

Thanks
